Pain can at all times be injurious to your health.
Pain is something to be felt. People often inflict injury on others that may cause pain. There could be various intentions behind causing such enormous amounts of pain and most of them I admit are hideous. The moot point is whether life is all about suffering, all about taking pain and offering it.
There can be no two opinions about it. If we have come here, we must undergo trials and tribulations.
It must be mentioned here that pain can be of a transferrable nature. For example, if a person linked closely to you gets humiliated, your heart goes out to him/her. This also could be one of the foundational principles of relationships.
Pain can also have a multiplier effect. If you nurse a grudge, you only allow it to take root.
Pain can sometimes leave a lasting impact on oneself or one's surroundings. This can be evident in cases where people complain about emotional trauma or psychological pain. The effects of these can be effectively countered through professional counselling and, in case if one be devoid of monetary resources, sage advise.
Have you ever had to experience a situation wherein you felt deep hurt for the person humiliated and linked emotionally to you? Has it ever culminated in a rising dilemma as to how to react in the given circumstances? Whether to give him/her a crying shoulder or whether to ignore his plight? Whether to stand by him in his times of distress or whether to give him the cold shoulder? Whether to retort to the enemy on his behalf or whether to suffer alongside him in silence?
